Continuing in our blog series on classes that have a few spots left next semester, this post will focus a spotlight on our Creative Dance classes. AWIP is committed to providing opportunities in the arts for all ages, and sometimes younger kids just need to move! Creative Dance basically offers a chance for students to get their wiggles out, learning jazz, simple acro, and basic choreography. Students are encouraged to have fun and be creative!
Our Creative Dance classes will encourage children to have fun, be confident, and use their imaginations while learning beginner jazz steps and acrobatic skills. Students will build on their flexibility, balance, strength, and memorization. They will also be taught a dance which will be performed at the end of the session (in the fall), and will be a part of the Junior Production of “Narnia” in the spring. Not to worry, the junior production will be much shorter this year!
Danielle’s love for dance began at a very young age. After discovering Donald O’Connor for the first time, she begged her mother to sign her up for tap dancing lessons. Soon after, she fell in love with all styles of dance. Danielle currently trains over 12 hours a week in tap, jazz, ballet, pointe, lyrical, hip hop, and acro with Shooting Stars School of Dance in Seekonk, MA. Her favorite genre is acro and she received the Acro Dancer of the Year Award for 2015.
Additionally, Danielle has been competing for the past three years and is currently a class demonstrator at her studio.
